About the test
The golfer type test sorts playing styles into eight types using 12 everyday situations: choosing a club on a tight tee shot, your range routine, a coffee bet with your group and how you settle down after a mistake. You can answer whether you play on the course, at the range or in a simulator.
How your type is decided
The 12 questions are split evenly across four scales: course strategy, preparation, on-course company and bounce-back. The direction of the first three scales (2×2×2) gives one of eight types. The bounce-back scale is added as a tag next to the type name: Quick Resetter or Reflective Reviewer. Your best playing partner shares your on-course company style but has the opposite strategy and preparation.
All 8 golfer types
- The Flag Hunter: Careful preparation, then straight at the pin. Shines brightest when something is on the line.
- The Prepared Adventurer: A solid plan and a love of a challenge. Gets the whole group excited.
- The Hero-Shot Seeker: Feel over formulas. Always looking for the one shot that turns things around.
- The Good-Vibes Swinger: Big swings and bigger laughs. Turns any round into a day out.
- The Scorecard Architect: Plans every shot and builds the score one stroke at a time.
- The Fairway Keeper: Calm and consistent. Everyone in the group feels at ease around you.
- The Course Reader: Reads the wind and the slopes and works through the round one quiet shot at a time.
- The Easygoing Stroller: Cares more about the day than the score, and loves the grass and the company.
This is a just-for-fun personality quiz, not a psychological test. It does not assess your golf skill or your character, and the practice ideas are general suggestions anyone can try.
